This Queen Anne Style House was built in 1891 for a local realtor. Early in the twentieth century, it became a boardinghouse, one of whose residents was the writer Donald Ogden Stewart. Stewart's claim to fame is that he wrote the screenplay for the great Katherine Hepburn/Cary Grant/Jimmy Stewart classic, "Philadelphia Story" - and won an Oscar for it. Stewart probably got to know a lot about the upper class from living in this neighborhood.
