A few pleasant hours can be spent at Denby pottery visitors Centre.

There are several different shops to browse around, including a Shipley Garden Centre, the Emporium which is a very good cooking equipment shop. You can also spend half an hour at one of their cooking demonstrations and get to sample the food afterwards. There is a couple of gift shops, and museum showing past designs of the Pottery. In the museum area there is usually an exhibition by local artists and you can purchase their work. Also in this area you will see some glass wear produced in the Glass studio. These designs fascinate me as I think they have the colouring and patterns of tropical and marine fish.

There is also a Darlington Crystal Factory shop and the Denby Pottery Factory shop.
The pottery is quite expensive but is 20% less than retail prices.

Guided tours are available for both the Pottery and Glass factories

After you've finished at Denby Pottery, treat yourself to glass of real Ale at the Stables bar just down the road. (See my tip on off the beaten path.)
