"Saint Gellert Statue" Gellert Statue - Szt Gellért Szobor Tip by edvin_br

The bishop Saint Gellert who was from Venice arrived to the area in ariund 1020 to proselytise among the pagan Hungarians. In 1046 the locals had enough of him and some rebelling pagans threw him in a barrel to his death from the Top of todays Gellert hill that called after him.
Today, above Elisabeth brige you will find steps that will lead you to a monument for the bishop. The columned memorial, with the stuatue of Gellert in the middle was completed at 1904.
