Madagascar Things to Do: 137 reviews and 267 photos

At this typical linear village we stop for a little walk through the community. The houses are constructed of mud, not wood or bamboo as we?ve mainly seen so far. There appears to have been a major fire at some time in the past as many of the houses are blackened by smoke. Someone suggests it could merely be from the fireplaces.

Between two houses is a washing line and I find it both sad and amusing to see that the ?clean? clothes on the line are far from clean ? they are exceptionally filthy

The children are filthy with grubby, torn clothing and no shoes, but oh so responsive to our attempts at communicating with them. A few words of Malagasy, a smattering of French, a lot of gesticulation and heaps of laughter brings the two worlds together.

Address: On the main road between Ranomafana and Fianar
