Tkalca, as Zagreb inhabitants usually call it, is a street filled with drinking spots, so everyone - and I really mean everyone - sits there all the time... There's a pretty big palette of bars: from beer-places to poshy bars, Irish pubs, coffee places etc. It's just in the city center, so just go north-west from the Main Square (Trg bana J. J.). It's a good place to stop by before going out...

The most popular place is called Melin [after Marilyn Monroe as well as after an old Croatian word for a mill] & it's basically a dump with a terrible toilet, but everyone's there 24/7. The drinks are cheap(er) & you're sure to meet tons of acquaintances... It's kinda cool because everyone's sitting in the park, on the swings, on the stairs & all around the place - just not the bar, hehe... You gotta go there if you're in Zagreb! It's just opposite the Oliwer Twist pub, but ask anyone - everyone knows about it - maybe even too well!
