"Lotfollah mosque-Emam mosques little brother" Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque Tip by global_explorer

Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque, Esfahan: 9 reviews and 14 photos

The second beautifull mosque on the Emam Khomeini square are the mosque of Sheik Lotfollah. It is a smaller building but still boost an fantastic portal and dome. Inside you will find the same intriguing tilework as in the Emam mosque, including maybe the most marvelous mihrab in the country. It is said this mosque are mutch more modest, and it is certainly a lot smaller, but the artwork to be seen are just as amazing as in the emam mosque. Lotfollah mosque are the oldest of the two mosques on the square, it was finished in 1619, 17 years after work began. It is special because there are no minarets or a courtyard as in other mosques.
