King Falafel: "It's not trendy, and that's why you want it" King Falafel Tip by RB_Oakes

King Falafel, Toronto: 2 reviews and 4 photos

I used to work at Bathurst & Eglinton, and the best place around there to eat is King Falafel. Run by a Moroccan family, this spartan shop is the opposite of all the trendy little pita joints (for example, in the Annex). At King Falafel, all the food is made by the family. So the shawarmas are made with seasoned strips of meat, not some vague glob-on-a-stick. You go in at lunch and they're rolling baklavas. The pan in which they cook the falafels looks like a health inspector's nightmare, but one taste and you'll know why they don't throw it out. Everything in the place rocks.

Favorite Dish: All of them. Not that there's many - shawarmas, falafels, honey cake, baklava, shortbread cookies, and fruit juices. All homemade, all dirt cheap, and all outstanding.
