"Larger than Life" Vasa Museum Tip by rattay

Vasa Museum, Stockholm: 134 reviews and 205 photos

The Vasa museum is home to the Vasa warship, which was built in the 1660s. It sank on it's maiden voyage and was pulled up a few years ago essentially intact. When you walk in, the room is very dark, but your eyes adjust and you come to see more and more details on the HUGE ship which is immediately in front of you. The museum itself is very well designed - you enter at what would be sea level and then can proceed either up 3 or 4 floors or down to the very bottom of the ship. Each level has different exhibits to recreate the rooms inside the ship and get you right up next to the ship's exterior. Each floor is entirely absorbing and interesting. One of my favorite museums in Stockholm.
