"1587-Fantana del Mose!" Fontana Dell?Acqua Felice ? Moses Fountain Tip by belgianchocolate

Fontana dell'Aqua Felice is the official name
of this fountain. It is named after Felice Peretti ,
Pope Sixtus V. He was the first to bring clean
water to this area of the city. It was the end of
the restored acqua Allessandrina.

The fountain contains 3 alcoves with in the
middle a huge statue of Mozes. Mozes who
as like the story in the bible is beating
water out of a rock.

That statue is also the reason why you should
see this fountain. Just to be able to compare this
one with the statue Michelangelo made in the
church 'San Pietro in Vincoli'.

You can easely see why 'Michelangelo' became
famous and 'Prospero Bresciano' didn't.

The four lions in the front still bring clear and
fresh potable water to the people..
Ideal to fill up you plastic bottle.

Address: Piazza San Bernardo
Directions: Two interesting churches are near ,
the 'Santa Maria Della Vitoria' for sure is
worth a visit as well.
Walk up here from metrastation 'Republica'
or 'Barberini'
