  the suburbs of Dublin?
by yooperprof

This aims to be a little slice of Dublin transplanted to the suburban world of box stores and chain restaurants. Actually, if you are inside McBride's, facing the handsome wooden bar, surrounded by deep dark panelling, with all the comfort of a well-poured (and reasonably warm) Guiness in front of you, it is possible to forget for a moment that you are in Overland Park. (At least until a group of Sprint employee sit next to you and start complaining about their jobs.)

Actually, I like this place quite a lot. As I said, they pour good beer here, not just Guiness and Harp, but also the fresh stuff from K.C.'s own Boulevard Brewery. The people who own McBride's also operate a series of admirable beerhouses in the Kansas City area (including the 75th Street Pub in KC MO and Barley Brewhaus in Shawnee), none of them cookie-cutter replicas, and all serving decent pub food with their ales and lagers. The Shepherd's Pie here is the real thing.

Price Comparison: about average
Directions: It's in the logistical nightmare of 119th Street and Blue Valley Pwky, in the same shopping block as First Watch, and close to Lukas Liquors.
Price: US$11-20
