Out in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, this world onto itself was taken over by the Federal Government in the 1920's and opened as a maximum security prison for the worst of criminals. All in an effort to control the rampant crime of the 1920's and 1930's. This prison has also had some very well known inmates such as gangster Al Capone.

Alcatraz closes at 6:30pm during the summer and 4:30pm during the fall, winter and spring.
