OK, if you visit the Algarve you really have to experience its world-famous southern beaches! In our case, as we worked our way east along the coast from Cape St. Vincent, we were looking for a smaller secluded beach rather than a busy one overrun with tourists - although things were actually quite tame during the last 2 weeks of May. After a detour into Portimao to have a look at its condominium-lined beaches, we didn't even get out of the car. It was onward to the Porches area where we finally were able to locate this little gem! It is not sign-posted at all and its only access is via a steep set of stairs just to the left of that blob of green vegetation near the waves on the centre-left side of the photo!

Directions: Praia da Senhora da Rocha, just to the west of Amacao de Pera
