When it was completed in 1937, it was the longest suspension bridge the world. Painted in International Orange, it is considered one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. A $5.00 toll is required to drive across (collected towards San Francisco). You may also walk across the east side of the bridge or cycle across the west side during daylight hours. If you walk, be prepared for wind and fog.
