"Ghost Market/ Panjiayuan Market" Beijing Shi Things to Do Tip by pullingteethss

Beijing Shi Things to Do: 106 reviews and 270 photos

If you love to shop for the unusal...this is the place!! Everything from Tibetan Thankas and Human Skull Caps to Chairman Mao memorabilia at rock bottom prices!!!!! It is only on Sat. and Sun's. Most everything is outside.

This is truely a locals market, spend the first few hours watching the locals haggle prices, (there is truely an art to it) then go crazy!!

Very few speak English so bring a calulator to do the barganing for you. Do not make an offer on an item unless you are want to buy it, they take this very seriously! If they start at 2000y, offer 75y then smile and bow.....they will eventually meet you around 200-250. Expect big purchases to take 5 minutes or more to agree on a price....don't rush it, it's part of the fun.

Bring a scarf to wrap your face and toilet paper as you will need them in the public bathrooms!!!

If your in Beijing on the weekend do not miss this!!!

Directions: South of downtown on Huaweiqiaoxi Nan Dajie inside the Third Ring Road (Dongsanhuan)
Take a cab if you are downtown...there are plenty available for the return trip!!
