  Leal Senado Square
by elcbw

The Leal Senado square and its surroundings house the best examples of Portuguese architecture in Macau. The principal buildings around the plaza were built in the 17th century, and remain beautiful and very well kept. From the square, numerous side streets and alleyways are born. Along the meanders, Mediterranean housing complexes and wooden window-panes lead you to other important buildings, such as the colorful Church of Sao Domingo and the ruins of the 17th century church of St. Paul - once dubbed the "greatest monument to Christianity in all the Eastern lands."
