In a country that has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world, and where the right to bear arms is enshrined in the constitution it is refreshing to see a statue that puts forward a more peaceful message.

This evocative statue, partly to celebrate the life of John Lennon can be found near the UN buildings.

Indeed the UN supports an anti-guns stance as can be seen from this document :

"We strongly endorse community initiatives ... to encourage the disarming of civilians...."
