"While visiting West Kirby take..." Liverpool Off The Beaten Path Tip by buzzz

Liverpool Off The Beaten Path: 80 reviews and 92 photos

While visiting West Kirby take a stroll over the sand to Hilbre Island. It is a wild bird sanctuary and it's really lovely. From the old lifeboat station over there you can see the colony of grey seals that live on the sand banks at Hilbre.
Hilbre Island is cut off from the mainland by the tide for up to six hours out of every twelve. When planning a visit you must allow yourself enough time so that you can leave Hilbre at least three hours before high water. Check the notice board and it will tell you what time you should set off from the Island to be back in plenty of time.
