"Good living in a silo!" Top 5 Page for this destination TOP Hotel Molla Lillehammer Tip by Saagar

What the... should we do with this grain silo? That was a discussion topic in the Lillehammer municipality board for a long time just before the Olympics. The silo was closed down and the thing was there as a raised finger...
Then somebody had the idea to brush out the leftover grain, hack out windows, put in floors, add a bar on top and a restaurant at street level and a pub at the bottom. Great scepticism to start with, but now more cities in Norway are doing the same thing with their abandoned silos.
I have not stayed overnight here myself, but this is the place I recommend when friends come to visit town and my place is full. The feedback has been very good. It is a hotel that caters for business as well as holiday travellers. My impression is that they do well on the culture tourism segment - people coming for conserts, theatre, shows etc.

Unique Qualities: A rather funny hotel in the sense that it's narrow and tall.
At times they have very\ good special weekend offers (when the business travellers are absent).
The bar on top has the best view in town, stays open quite late and is a popular place for the decent crowd of stragglers.
Easy-going atmosphere in the hotel, generally.
Egon Restaurant over several floors, if you eat here gpo for fish or game, not the international type dishes, which are mediocre.
