  Willets Feeding In The Surf
by catalysta

Favorite thing: All kinds of shorebirds abound, it's a birdwatcher's visual feast!
These Willets are common opportunists of the southern shores, in both salt waters and brackish waters. They feed on both animals and plants, probing the mud or sand with their long bills. Foods of preference include Fiddler Crabs, marine worms, small fish, and vegetable matter.
They seem to be pretty gregarious birds, as I never see them solitary, usually in small flocks.
