by wjstallings

The tower is 900 years old.

The Crown Jewels are housed here. Inside ther Scepter of the Cross holds the largest cut diamond in the world, the 530-carat First Star of Africa.

The tower was traditionally used as a prison for those who offended the monarchy. Many of these prisoners were executed at nearby Tower Hill. Some of the prisoners were famous...Sir Thomas Moore and Flora McDonald. Two of Henry VIII's wives were killed within the walls.

"Beefeaters" - Thirty-Six guard the tower and live here. They also give guided tours which are included in admission.
