"Kokorec and Iskembe" Turkish Food Tip by MalenaN

Turkish Food, Istanbul: 41 reviews and 50 photos

When it comes to food made of intestines I only eat chicken liver (rarely) in Sweden.
But in Turkey I had both Kokorec and Iskembe Soup.

Kokorec: Sandwich with meat from the sheep intestine (the long things). It's mixed with tomatoes and spices.

Iskembe soup: Soup made of sheep stomach. Added to the soup is fried butter, garlic sauce, lemon and red pepper.

I don't know if I like these things (I don't dislike it though), but the taste is different and interesting. I can imagine that it is food you can miss if you are used to it and didn't have it for a long time.
