Lagos is a large town on the south west Algarve. Again like Albufeira it is very tourist orientated, but seems to have a charm especially along the waterfront, lacking an Albufeira.

Lagos is famous for Prince Henry the Navigator who set sail from Lagos during Portugals "Age of Discoveries" period in the 1400s.
Prince Henry started Portugals lust for foreign lands by getting his father to invade Ceuta in North Africa, which was easily conquered, other lands taken by Henry era were Maderia, Azores, Cape Verde islands, plus west African countries. This hailed the beginning of Portugals Slave trade

Directions:

South Algarve, West of Albufeira
