Heroes' Square - Hosok Tere, Budapest: 116 reviews and 242 photos

The Hosok tere (in Hungarin) is one of the most impressive sights in Budapest.
The square is situated in a vey elegant place at the end of the beautiful Andrassy ut and between the Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery , behind it you can find the Varosliget ( a huge park) where there are castles, baths, zoo and amusement park.
In the square there is the millenium monument that was erected in 1896 for the commemoration of Hungaries 1000th anniversary for the Hungarian conquest of the Carparthian Basin. In the center of the monument you will see Archangel Gabriel on a 36 m column and under him, n the pedestal there are statues of 7 chifes who led thier tribes to Hungary. The two half colonnades consists statues of Hungarian kings and famous persons on the Hungarian history.
You can get to the square by taking the Metro 1, that is the first metro line that was built in Budapest at the end of the 19 century... this line is really different from other places in the world, it is only a few meters under the ground and its also very narrow, you will feel there like 100 years ago.
