"Heathrow airport is situated..." London Transportation Tip by kfh1

Heathrow airport is situated on the western part of the city (around 1.5 hrs by the tube, though that tends to vary a bit). There are 4 terminals in the airport. Terminal 1 and 2 are mainly for european travellers while Terminal 3 is for international flights. Terminal 4 is dedicated to British airways and a small number of other airlines.
The Underground seems to be the only viable way to get around London. However, delays are quite frequent on the tube and over-crowding happens every day during peak hours. If you can avoid the morning peak hour (before 9:30), you can also buy a daily travelcard which is a much better deal for travellers.

Bus service might be an alternative in the city centre and most buses go through the city centre anyway.
