A bit of history - Rundle Mall is named after John Rundle, one of the original directors and financier of the South Australia Company, which was formed in London in 1834 to promote settlement of the new colony of South Australia.

Rundle Mall is Adelaide's main shopping area, and is regarded as the most competitive shopping precinct in Australia.

What to buy: 1. Miss Gladys Sam Choon items - the designer originally from Malaysia has built quite a following and is based in Adelaide.

2. I am in love with the variety of shoes choices available in Adelaide! Try RMK or Nine West.

Directions: From Adelaide's suburban railway station on North Terrace, walk east up to King William Street, then turn right into King William Street.
