Not too far east of the more famous Bassano del Grappa lies an equally interesting town. Marostica is your original walled city, this done at the behest of the Scaligeris though the castle on the hill was already there.
Apart from grappa, the one most famous thing here is the biennial chess game played with live people on certain days of the even numbered years.
