  Mt Isa mine

Mount Isa is a good place to stop on your way west.
The mine mines copper, silver, lead and zinc and the big chimney totally dominates the skyline - it is 270 m high. You can go for tours of the mine.
The town also has a lookout point with a big sign with signs pointing to places all over the world. You suddenly feel very far away from home seeing how far it is to different places in Europe. (No danish city is on the sign...)
Last time I was there it was my cousin (who I was travelling with)'s birthday and a friend of mine there (who I met there two years before) took us to the Irish Club. Apparently these types of clubs are everywhere around Australia and are very popular. We had a great time! Eventhough they had stopped serving meals when we finally got there so we couldn't get dinner. We just danced the night away until the hotdog man came and set up his stand outside. Best hotdog I ever had!
