I love my wine so had to mention this place.Southern Troodos Mountains has plenty of vineyards.Pitsylia winery is a great one worth checking out.You can go for a tour. You can also taste. My fav part.Mavro Ambelissimo is the name of the local grape which the wine is made out of.Xynisteri and Pambatzies and Ofthalmo are also pretty tasty varieties of grapes used to make the local wines. The winery is between Platres and Pelendri. It is better to ring before going to book a tour.Another good one to see is Sterna Winery. This winery has wine caves over 3000 years old and they keep a constant temp of around 15c.This winery opens from 9.30 am til 6.00pm and opens 7 days a week.Sterna Winery is on the northeast side of Kathikas. It has a great mountain setting and you can hear how the wine is made and taste the wonderful wines and snaps(free) and look in the 3000 year old cellars. There is also a gift shop. You can sit outside after your tour and tasting and sit on a patio which overlooks the mountains and have a coffee. You will see loads of vineyards in this area and I highly recomend going.A great day out if you enjoy good views and wines.
