"Altitude" Nairobi Warnings Or Dangers Tip by Icarus_Feather

Nairobi Warnings and Dangers: 54 reviews and 48 photos

You are really high up, relative altitude density is a major factor here for both rotary and fixed wing aircraft.

Also Kenya has several volcanoes. Little tip, landing a helicopter inside the bowl at the top of a dormant volcano is all well and good and sure it looks great in your log book but...
Please think about the downdraft on take-off. The blades push all the air down, the bowl deflects it all up and straight back down into the blades- this is an extremely effective way of having to write off a perfectly good and fully functioning 5.3m helicopter. It also means you've got a hell of a long way to walk before you can get any dinner.
