"Learn to surf!" Byron Bay Things to Do Tip by helsbels

If you aren't already a surfer and you have the time, take a surfing lesson. I can't remember the name of the guys i did mine with but they took you all down to the beach, did some theory stuff on the sand, some warming up and then tried to get us all surfing! They supplied all equipment (boards, wetsuits etc) and transport from the hostels to the beach and back.Their promise was to get us all standing and surfing on the water by the end of the day or we'd get our money back. Even if you have no balance and just can't stay on the board for more than 5 seconds you will have a great day. They also took photos which you could buy at the end. Unfortunately my photo proved that i did stand and surf (even if it was only for a split second!) and therefore couldn't get my money back. However the very nice instructor did offer me a free session the next day because i was so bad! I had to leave the next day but the offer was nice!!

Directions: I was lucky enough for them to find me when they came round the hostels. I'm sure if you ask at the hostels or tourist info they'll point you the right way.
