"visit the Fremont Street..." Nevada Favorite Tip by pat110

Favorite thing: visit the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas! Technology at its finest, a canopy 90' above a 4-block section of Fremont Street lures the crowd with 2.1 million lights and 540,000 watts of sound. Computers run the show which is displayed on the towering canopy. It is so spectacular that the casinos empty and patrons pour into the street to watch!

Fondest memory: They have continued to add entertainment and excitement to Fremont Street -- there are strolling musicians and beautiful showgirls who will pose with you for a photograph - the guys in our group LIKED that! There is no place to sit along the Fremont Street complex and it would be great if there were benches -- that is never likely to happen! They want you to SIT in the casinos! I got a big kick out of an incident I witnessed along Fremont Street -- a wonderfully talented musician was playing a fiddle and one of the songs he chose was the ever popular Rocky Top. He was surrounded by a large crowd and in the middle of the crowd was a circle filled with several of the audience dancing their brains out! Of course, the crowd was clapping and singing Rocky Top at the top of their lungs right along with the entertainer -- I was standing just behind two Japanese visitors and at the end of the song one turned to the other, shook his head and said, 'it must be an American thing'! You're right, my friend -- NORMAL people wouldn't understand Rocky Top!
