"take a Helicopter ride! It's..." Hawaii (State of) Favorite Tip by pat110

Favorite thing: take a Helicopter ride! It's not cheap -- about $125 plus tax per person for a 45 minute ride --but it is AWESOME and well worth the price! The spectacular Na Pali coastline is breathtaking, and the helicopter goes deep into the crevases of the Waimea Canyon to show you more waterfalls than you can count.

Fondest memory: The winter weather in Princeville brings frequent rain showers, but you are not stuck in your condo...besides, rain is a necessary ingredient for rainbows, and a few clouds just make the sunset more glorious! If it rains, just drive from the North Shore to the South Shore where you'll find the sun shining brightly and the snorkling awaits. A huge Monk Seal crawled onto the beach to nap in the middle of a hundred or so snorklers(see his picture in the Travelogue by clicking near the top right). It was amazing to see the hotel surround him with a rope and signage pointing out that he was a greatly endangered species and protected by law from harrassment. The snorklers snapped his picture, but otherwise left him alone... peacefully sleeping until he was ready to return to the sea. Amazing!
