Lovina tries hard to market itself as an alternative beach to the noisy Kuta-Legian-Sanur scene. Brochures will romanticise the black sand here and waffle on about the serenity. Don't be fooled.
The beach is ok, but the water is polluted and murky. The Java Sea is a major shipping lane and also the waste sink for 100 million people on Java.
Fun Alternatives: Any of the main beaches in the south is far better than Lovina.
