"The encroachment" UNO-City Vienna International Centre Tip by iandsmith

  The shock of the new
by iandsmith

So it was that at the end of the second day I worked out a spot where I could see the Danube proper.
Donaiunsel was the name of the station where I aimed for. Smack on an island in the middle of the river. I was quite unprepared for the skyscrapers on the other side.
After the eternal baroque of the old city, the stark contrast was a shock. Here was Americana at work, creating high rise blights upon a European landscape. I didn't know whether I thought it a good thing or a bad thing. I still don't. Then again, in these matters, my opinion will count for nought.
