Düsseldorf Off The Beaten Path: 50 reviews and 59 photos
I've always been fascinated by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of the most famous German authors... I liked his plays and novels and poems, the story of his own life, the stories of his women, he spoke so many languges, was in expert in sciences, interesteded in arts and music and yet seemed to be a down-to-earth person.
There are the famous places of Frankfurt and Weimar, that are connected to Goethe. In D?sseldorf, he never lived but always came to visit friends, like a guy called Jacobi for example. The Goethe Museum in D?sseldorf is small an not half as important as the ones in Frankfurt or Weimar. There are paintings and books, letters and notes, old furniture and exhibits, bringing together Goethe and his time.
The museum is inside a beautiful old building, Schloss Jägerhof, not far from the Hofgarten, a visit makes you forget a little of the world outside!
