  Children's Peace Monument
by Blatherwick

Sadako Sasaki, a Hiroshima 12-year old, inspired this monument. She believed that if she could fold 1000 origami cranes she could beat the leukemia brought on by the background radiation caused by the bomb. Unfortunately, she died before reaching that mark.

Her friends continued to fold cranes in her memory. You too can fold cranes and add them to the ever growing display of origami.
