"Subway" Subway Tip by grkboiler

Subway, New York City: 337 reviews and 299 photos

The Subway is the best way of getting around in NY. You can get almost anywhere. Trying to figure out which trains stop where, and what express and local trains are can be complicated at first, but you should get the hang of it after your first day. If you are confused, just ask a local.

The subway isn't the cleanest one in the world. I would say it is safe, depending on the area you are in.

Rides are $2. It is a good idea to get a one-day or 7-day Metrocard to save money. They will give you unlimited rides on the subway for the 1 or 7 days. A one-day costs $7 and a 7-day costs $21. This is a great deal.

It is also a good idea to have a map of the subway with you. Click below for a map.
