Truc Bach lake is a beautiful, though small body of water just east and across the causeway from West Lake. On the southern shores of this lake is Quan Tranh Temple. On the causeway, there are a few good restaurants as well as a monument for the Vietnamese men who manned the anti-aircraft guns during the American Vietnam War. US Senator John McCain was one of many American pilots who were downed and either killed or captured by the North Vietnamese. Senator McCain also spent time in Hanoi's famous Hoa Lo Prison as a POW.

At the far end of the causeway, you can see the beautiful and towering Tran Quoc Pagoda.
