"See London - Tube Tickets" Oyster Cards / Travelcards Tip by busspotter

Oyster Cards / Travelcards, London: 162 reviews and 101 photos

London is one of the few places in the UK to have an integrated transport service. A Travelcard is a must, unless you are only travelling by bus (see my pages on Bus Travel)

The travelcard comes in many forms - the simplest being the one-day travelcard (5.10 (at 06.01.2004) for all zones, but most tourists will only need a zone 1 (or 1&2) travelcard). This allows travel on buses, underground, Docklands-Light-Railway and overground (British Rail) trains. They are a lot more expensive before 09h30 Mon-Fri.

You can get a weekend travelcard which gives you a saving of around 30%. This is valid for Saturday AND Sunday.

The best value, if you are travelling with children under 16, is a Family travelcard. All Zones for an adult is 3.20, with the kids paying 80p each! Only one adult needs to travel. The only snag is that the "family" needs to travel together.
