  Domestic waiting
by Saagar

Tribhuvan Airport's domestic departure hall is full of people wondering where and when their plane will be flying...
Due to collapse of some small airlines, the demise of the state-owned Royal Nepal Airlines, and some technical mishaps and accidents that have decimated the number of available planes, and adding to this, the huge number of people who now want to and have no alternative to travel by air because of the Maoist insurgents are blocking road transport several places, delays is the name of the game.
Not much to do about it, but try not to fly without having a buffer day. For Pokhara you can get there by car or taxi or bus sometimes faster than planes can manage nowadays. 5 hrs to Pokhara by taxi works out at 3500-5000 Rs for a tourist.
In any case, bring a book and some other entertainment, and keep an eye and ear cocked for information from the check-in counter, or if you're past there, the departure gate. Past check-in and security there are two coffee bars and kiosks which provide a bit of relief.
The sheer lack of information is probably most frustrating for visitors. Not knowing what's going to happen with your flight isn't fun. It's not really in the airport and airlines staffs' minds to tell you either - just happens to be like this.
