Blenheim Palace is a very impressive castle with extensive gardens. There's plenty to do for most of a day. We did not arrive until 3:30 pm and wish we had gotten there much earlier.
The palace was a gift to the 1st Duke of Marlborough in recognition of his victory at the battle of Blenheim in 1704. Sir Winston Churchill was born here and there's a special Churchill exhibit, including the room where he was born.

The tour of the public rooms of the palace is very interesting. (The current Duke and his family still live here, so some of the rooms are private.)

The entire property seems to be utilized for revenue-generating activities-- it must be an expensive place to keep up! There's little train, a maze, a Butterfly House, an herb garden, and a lake with boats.

Our daughter especially enjoyed the Marlborough Maze, while is the world's largest 'symbolic' hedge maze. The design of the maze (which you can't fathom when you're inside of it) is supposed to represent the splendor of the victory at Blenheim. This maze had two wooden bridges which helped you figure which way out.

Address: Near Woodstock in Oxfordshire.
othercontact: Churchill's grave is nearby, at
