I imagine apart from possibly the Siq this the most photographed building in Petra.

The Khazneh, or more often called the Treasury is an exitedly anticipated delight as you walk through the narrow Siq,

It is believed it is dated to somewhere between 100BC to 200AD. The Treasury stands 40 meters high and inside is a main room with a smaller room behind.

The Treasury gets its name from the mistaken belief that at one time treasure was hidden here, particulaly in the Urn at the top.

You can still see the bullet holes of where people have tried to shoot the Urn open for the treasure to fall out.

The Siq's and Treasury's most famous claim to fame was when it was in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"

You can not fail to miss it as you walk through the Siq
