Jenny Wade Museum, Gettysburg: 2 reviews and 1 photos

Poor Jenny Wade. This 20 year old girl was baking bread for the soldiers in her house when Confederates were shooting during the battle of Gettysburg. It wasn't her lucky day at all, as one of the bullets entered the house and killed her in the kitchen. She earned some fame though, as much good as it did her, as the ONLY civilian killed in the Battle of Gettysburg. This museum is in her house where it all happened and is preserved from the Civil War era, architecture, furnishings and all.
Her monument/headstone is in the Evergreen Cemetery behind the National Cemetery.
The museum is open for tours and there is also a gift shop.

Address: Steinwehr Avenue
Directions: Right by everything I've mentioned before: the tour center, the Dobbin House and up the street from other museums
Phone: 717.334.4100
