This is probably my favorite of the memorials--for a couple reasons. The theme of course, it was to honor the spirit of reconciliation--one of the things I think we should all honor most-- and the fact that is was dedicated by President Frankin D. Roosevelt in 1938. It stands on the north end of the battlefield, where the Battle of Gettysburg began.

This flame is fed by natural gas and is lit in all peacekeeping times--I know what you all might be thinking, but it's lit right now. And it's been lit since WWI...except in energy crisis times.
