Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. is a double drive-thru restaurant chain primarily in the southeastern United States. The idea behind Checkers is that 50% of fast food business is drive-through so it is more efficient to ONLY have drivethrough and have two lines at each restaurant. The restaurants have absolutely no place to eat inside - just outdoor dining in the outside picnic area at most locations. This means that my husband does not go to Checkers because he rarely or never does the drive-through primarily because he doesn't like to get food all over his car.
If you go to the left-hand drive-through, you either need to have a right hand drive car, very long arms or a narrow car, or someone in the passenger seat to give them the money and get the food.
Favorite Dish: Their signature burger is called the Champ. I like the bacon cheese Champ. They also have hot dogs, chili and cheese dogs, fried chicken and fries or fries with cheese. They have various soft drinks, iced tea or milkshakes to drink.
They now also have a sandwich on Texas toast called a Buford.
They used to have fried apple bits as a dessert item which I really liked, but they've gone to an ordinary apple turnover now.
