On my mom's recent trip to Montreal she seized the opportunity to visit the famous Chabanel Shopping District. This is an area of clothing factories in North Montrea where one can purchase women's clothing, men's clothing, children's clothing, shoes, sheets, towels, even wedding dresses!

You can only shop on Saturdays between 8am - 12 noon.

What to buy: I had heard the deals were good but nowhere close to what my mom and her other friends reported. Deals of 10% - 20% of the price (NOT just 10 - 20% off!) are not unheard of. When I met her later she was just stunned at how inexpensive everything was. Yet absolutely top quality.

What to pay: Some places take credit cards but it's best to take a few hundred dollars in cash.
