  The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismael
by Paul2001

The The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismael is one of the most important sights in Meknes. Like the rest of the city it does not receive anywhere near the number of tourists that visit other attractions in cities like Marrakesh and Fez.
The mausoleum is one of the best examples of Islamic arts that I saw while in Morocco. The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismael, the emperor of Morocco who had Meknes his capital in 1672. Unlike most Islamic sights in Morocco, non muslims can enter the mausoleum. The interior is a splendor of bright tiling, fountains and magnificently carved stucco walls.
