"Food" Singapore Favorite Tip by Kanz84

Favorite thing: On a food gourmet trip.

Fondest memory: Certainly, if you are in Singapore, you can't miss out on the food. Word from a local. It seems that every food is a jumbled up mix of the different ethnic cultures, and even the names are strange - a mix and match of english and malay and chinese. Take for example, 'Dinosaur', which is Milo whipped in a Starbucks Ice Mocha style at any local malay food joint.

If you happen to be in Singapore, don't miss out on the food. Some recommendations would be:

Chicken Rice at Chatterbox, Meritus Mandarin @ Orchard Road.
Chilli Crab at Long Beach Seafood, East Coast Park.
Japanese food with a western dining feel at Wasabi Bistro, Oriental Hotel, Marina Bay
Laksa at Katong Road (just ask the taxi driver)

and many others. do pick up a copy of any singapore guide and furnish yourself with the various food available! Anyway, if you are in Singapore, just ask the concierge if not any taxi driver on the best places to eat. * taxi drivers here now act as tour guides, and if I am not wrong prices for their services will be $25/hour for them to take your around town and be your own personal tour guide.*
