Masthuggskyrkan Church, Göteborg: 7 reviews and 17 photos

This church is a little further out from the centre - although within walking distance - but as it sits high up and has such a high steeple it can be seen from quite far away. I was lucky enough to be staying in a hostel just at the bottom of the hill, about a 5 min climb from the church itself and went up there several times although I never actually ventured inside.

It was built in 1914 and designed by Sigfrid Ericsson. Due to its high position its used as a sea navigation point in Goteburg.

You can get fantastic views over the city from outside the church and particularly at sunset! I could have sat up there for hours if it hadn't been March and a trifle chilly!!

Address: Storebackegatan
Directions: tram: #s 3, 9, 11 to Stigbergstorget

You can climb up the steps passed the smaller church from Stigbergsliden or take the # 87 bus up the hill
