Orthodox chapel of Saint Archangel Gavrilo was built by merchant, soap maker and great benefactor Teodor Apostolovic "to himself and his parents for eternal mention" on the place where was wooden church as temporary object. On his request the Emperor approved to build orthodox chapel, on his own expense without collecting any help, in Kontumac, on condition that liturgy mustn't be hold every day but only on great festivals as well as that three "hvata" of the land which was asked for building, doesn't damage Kontumacki area. Chapel was built in 1786 and on the beginning of the next year Vienna's court War Council approved that Sundays liturgy can be held, because Toma Apostolovic himself agreed to pay off the chaplain. The church was shaped in baroque style. Bell tower is two storied but the second storey was built in 1840 year according to the big numbers on the facade.
